Role description

Sagala is looking for an R&D Manager to help develop and improve products across its portfolio of F&B brands.

Sagala builds brands around how Indonesians actually eat, making product development central to how the company identifies opportunities, tests ideas, and creates concepts that can work at scale.

The role combines product creativity with operational and commercial thinking.

What you'll work on

Develop and improve food products across Sagala’s portfolio
Translate consumer preferences and market observations into product ideas
Run product testing, iteration, and refinement
Improve existing products based on consumer and operational feedback
Work closely with operations to make sure products can be executed consistently
Balance taste, quality, operational feasibility, and commercial considerations
Support new menu and product development as Sagala’s brands evolve
Help create repeatable standards for products that move into wider operations

Qualifications

Relevant experience in food R&D, product development, culinary development, or F&B
Strong understanding of food products and consumer preferences
Comfortable testing, experimenting, and improving products through iteration
Able to think beyond taste and consider consistency and scalability
Strong attention to detail and product quality
Collaborative and comfortable working closely with operations
Good problem-solving and project management ability

Nice to Have

Experience working with multi-location F&B businesses
Exposure to menu engineering or product commercialization
Strong understanding of Indonesian consumer taste preferences

Someone who loves building food products but also understands that a great product has to work beyond the test kitchen.
